Youth Arise Ministry

Youth Arise Ministry (YAM) is a Youth Charismatic Ministry, in the Parish of OLPS in Singapore. Formed in 2000, we have been active in the OLPS Youth Ministry since 2005. With a current strength of 10 members, we meet every Saturday night. Our goal is to see youths and the people around them experiencing spiritual revival & renewal.

Why we do what we do...

For many of us, we serve because we've been touched and blessed in many ways. Many of us have had a "revival" experience where we felt we were once "dead" in our faith, but brought to life through a deep God experience at some point.

All of us have attended the Youth in the Spirit Seminar which was a key in bringing about a spiritual transformation in us. This Holy Spirit experience has also given us greater passion to serve in church and a love for our faith & scripture.

Therefore we hunger for a similar spiritual revival in our church.

We hope to continue to bring forth this God-experience to others, that all may realise God's truths and promises, and experience His unconditional love in all its fullness.

What is our mission?

Our mission is to inspire, equip and journey with youths towards spiritual maturity and leadership.

By this, we have set on personal growth and formation so that we increase in knowledge, experience and confidence, that we may one day able to coach, teach, and mentor more youths. Because we are still a young ministry, our mission at present is to seek spiritual maturity ourselves, as well as learn the ropes of leadership, with the hope of one day, leading others to Christ.

In bringing youths towards Spiritual Maturity and leadership, we believe youths will be made strong in their faith, and develop a passion for the Lord and His works, to realise God's presence and grace in their lives. We seek that they be equipped and inspired to lead others too, towards knowing God in a deeper way.

What is Charismatic?

In fact, the whole church should be "Charismatic" - which is to be alive in the Spirit... in simple language.

But to be more precise, a Charismatic ministry is one which operates in the Charismatic gifts through the power of the Holy Spirit. Participants invite the presence of the Holy Spirit during its sessions, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit are manifested for the building up of God's people. These refer to the gift of speaking in tongues, interpretation of tongues, prophecy, word of wisdom, word of knowledge, discernment of spirits, faith, healing and miracles (1 Corinthians 12:4-11).

Following the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and outpouring of the Holy Spirit which are usually experienced during a Life in the Spirit Seminar course or camp, members in a charismatic ministry usually begin a new transformed life, seeking spiritual growth and revival. They follow the vision and mission of the group they belong to, and it varies for different groups according to the Holy Spirit's guidance. The vision and mission is discerned as a community with accountability to the group's spiritual directors, priests, and elders.

A Charismatic ministry seeks to build up the body of Christ – that is, all people from young to old – towards deeper faith, a greater passion for the Lord, and an intimate relationship with Him in such that a person is able to listen, hear and flow with the gentle promptings of the Holy Spirit.

Because of the power gifts of healing, miracles and faith, a Charismatic ministry also aids the church in the ministry of deliverance, healing and intercessory prayer. Members could be led to pray, or be equipped with boldness to preach God's message. Change is a constant in a Charismatic ministry and seeing God's name praised and glorified, is its reward.
